Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Chicago recently celebrated the 55th Anniversary of their debut album, *Chicago Transit Authority*, with a special concert called ‘Live at 55’. The band was joined by a roster of noteworthy guests including Robin Thicke, Chris Daughtry, Judith Hill, Christine ‘Kingfish’ Ingram, VoicePlay, and Robert Randolph at the ‘Chicago & Friends’ event.
### Steve Vai’s Epic Performance
Legendary guitarist Steve Vai also joined the celebration and shared an electrifying solo during the performance of *South California Purples*. He showcased his virtuosity with his Ibanez ‘Flo III’ JEM, captivating the audience with his sensational use of the whammy bar, dexterous fretwork, and a wailing, wah-tinged finale.
In an interview, Vai expressed his fondness for Chicago, describing their music as timeless and a staple diet for many.
The ‘Live at 55’ concert was filmed at the Ovation Hall at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City. Notably, it marked a rare collaborative outing for Chicago, who are not known for performing with guest musicians. Founding member Lee Loughnane noted that this concert film offers a unique approach compared to their previous live performances.
### Where to Watch
The ‘Chicago & Friends Live at 55’ performance will be available to stream in the UK on November 22nd, and a worldwide release is scheduled for December 6th. Fans can access the concert via StagePlayer+ and in various formats by Mercury Studios.
