**Gibson Announces “A Complete Unknown” Collection of Acoustic Guitars**

Gibson has unveiled a striking line of acoustic guitars inspired by “A Complete Unknown”, the forthcoming Timothée Chalamet-starring Bob Dylan biopic. They were created for the film’s production and soundtrack recording. The special guitars were developed alongside the film’s Executive Music Producer, Nick Baxter, to capture the iconic singer/songwriter’s distinctive guitar tones, which evolved over the few years the movie covers.

In a recent interview with Gibson, Nick Baxter recounted the meticulous process of authenticating Dylan’s early/mid-’60s sound. They were provided with an extensive collection of unreleased recordings of Dylan, which allowed them to pick apart the magic in the recordings and understand his varying playing style, a crucial element for portraying his guitar sound in the film.

##The Guitars

The collection features nine instruments, each of which were used during the film’s production. This includes models such as a small-body L-00 Original, a trio of SJ-200s, a standard, a Custom Shop ’57, and an ornate Johnny Cash signature, among others.

##Achieving the Right Tone

The unique challenge they faced was to make these pristine instruments sound, surprisingly, worse, as it was about capturing the essence of Dylan’s distinctive sound. It required old, dead strings, and recreating a dead quality in the guitar to capture the raw and evocative sound that Bob Dylan was known for.

Guitar enthusiasts can get an up-close look at these guitars at the Gibson Garage Nashville from December 19 to January. The collection will highlight the iconic instruments and their role in the making of the film.
